Marika Hackman had imagined adult life differently. Now that she’s in her thirties, the hangovers haven’t gone away yet and the next worry is already looming. The British singer-songwriter writes about growing older and the expectations she once had about it. On ‘33’, a children’s choir even has to encourage her to carry on.
Hackman wrote and produced the record herself, using instruments she has collected over the past twenty years. Her distinctive voice and subtle guitar playing resonate amidst mandolins and the low tones of a harmonium, whilst a small jazz drum kit keeps the almost entirely acoustic tracks moving.
