Ratboys opens their new album Singin' to an Empty Chair with an invitation. "What's it gonna take to open up this time?" sings vocalist Julia Steiner, launching an eleven-song conversation that's considered Ratboys' most introspective and emotionally driven work to date. On May 17th, the band will play at PAARD!
The album's first track quickly swells into the kind of musical sunshine Ratboys has made their specialty, underscoring the high stakes of the band's sixth album and how gracefully the foursome handles them. When Steiner poses the question in "Open Up," it's clear she truly means it.
