Soheil Shayesteh & Nils Petter Molvær & Het Muziek

Tivoli19:3029,00

Soheil Shayesteh is an audiovisual composer, violinist, and kamancheh player who uniquely combines the sound of the kamancheh with live electronics. He creates complex and refined soundscapes and layered drones, with hypnotic effects that slow down time and transport the listener to a meditative state. For Gaudeamus Festival, Shayesteh is developing a new piece for himself, Norwegian star trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær, and ensemble Het Muziek. The kamancheh and the trumpet engage in a live dialogue with audio software specifically developed for these instruments, with a major role for improvisation alongside the composed elements. Especially for this concert, Het Muziek is expanded with 10 student musicians, that were chosen from an open call. Leading up to the concert, they follow a musician journey in which the five core musicians from Het Muziek and conductor Leslie Pérez-Canto Azaf will coach the orchestra string players during rehearsals. They will open the concert with a performance of to try to remember what it left by Sing-Yat Chen, one of the four nominees of the Gaudeamus Award 2026.
